A no deposit bonus sounds like free money. In practice it is a small amount with heavy wagering and a win cap that makes it almost impossible to turn into money you can withdraw. Here is how these offers work and where the real rewards are.
“No deposit bonus” is one of the most searched phrases around casinos, and it is easy to see why: it looks like a chance to try a casino without risking anything. The reality is less exciting. These offers are built as advertising, not as money, and their terms make sure very few players ever withdraw anything from them.
What a no deposit offer looks like
There are three usual forms:
- A small amount in your account, for example the equivalent of 5 or 10 dollars, credited after sign-up or after email confirmation.
- Free spins on a particular slot, usually 10 to 50, at the minimum stake.
- A promo code entered at sign-up that unlocks one of the two above.
The three rules that empty it
Wagering. On no-deposit offers wagering is usually heavier than on the welcome bonus: x40, x50, sometimes x60. The win from 20 free spins, say 4 dollars, must be bet 50 times: 200 dollars in bets, starting from 4.
The win cap. Almost every no-deposit offer has a maximum that can be withdrawn, however much you win. A cap of 50 or 100 dollars is common. A big win above the cap is cut.
Deposit to withdraw. Many casinos require a minimum deposit before the first withdrawal, “to verify the payment method”. If you have to deposit to withdraw, the offer is no longer no-deposit.
Put them together: 4 dollars won, x50 wagering, played on a slot with 96% RTP. The expected loss on 200 dollars in bets is 8 dollars, twice the starting amount. On average the bonus is gone long before the wagering ends.
Why crypto casinos rarely offer them
A crypto casino asks for no documents at sign-up, and an email address takes seconds to create. A no-deposit offer would be claimed hundreds of times by the same person with different accounts. That is why crypto casinos either do not have such offers or attach conditions that make them hard to use: identity checks before withdrawal, a minimum deposit, a code handed out only through certain channels.

Where the real rewards are
If you want a casino to give something back, loyalty programmes are the place, not sign-up offers.
Rakeback. Part of the house edge comes back to you after every bet. At most casinos it has no wagering and no win cap. It is small on each bet, but it does not stop after the first day.
Weekly cashback. A share of the week's net loss comes back to you. It works as a small safety net.
VIP levels. The VIP programmes at crypto casinos, from Vave to BetFury and TrustDice, raise the rakeback and cashback percentages as you climb. At the top levels come level bonuses and personal offers.
The basic difference: a no deposit bonus is advertising paid once, with rules designed so it is not withdrawn. A loyalty reward is part of the money you played anyway, returned. The second is worth more.

A few rules that save disappointment:
- Read the win cap before playing. If it is 50 dollars, you know from the start the most you can get.
- Check whether a deposit is required to withdraw.
- Do not deposit to “unlock” a small win. Bonus winnings are not yours until they clear the wagering.
- Do not open several accounts. Every casino forbids multiple accounts and can void the whole balance at withdrawal.
